The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine denied statements about Kyiv’s alleged agreement with Trump’s peace plan by 90%

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has rejected information that Kyiv has allegedly agreed almost completely — by 90% — to the terms of the peace plan that US President Donald Trump presented this week in Paris. About this informs Sky News, citing an official defense ministry comment.
The reason for the denial was the words of an unnamed representative of the Trump administration, published New York Post. According to this publication, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov allegedly assured his American colleagues that the Ukrainian side supports the peace formula proposed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
However, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine explained that they do not make political decisions and do not rate political processes in percentage terms. They also emphasized that no dialogue can be considered seriously while Russia continues its attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure and does not comply with agreements.
“On March 11, we already supported the American initiative for a complete ceasefire. Russia then refused it and is still shelling Ukrainian cities and energy facilities every day.” – is emphasized in the statement.
According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the current circumstances make it impossible to have a meaningful dialogue about ending the war, not to mention the assessment of Kyiv’s “degree of agreement” in numbers.
“At the moment, the most important thing is to find a mechanism that would guarantee the effectiveness and controllability of a possible ceasefire,” – says the comment.
The Ministry of Defense also confirmed that Ukraine continues an active and constructive dialogue with its partners in the United States and remains committed to achieving peace.
It will be recalled that on April 17, representatives of the USA, EU and Ukraine met in Paris regarding possible ways to end Russian aggression. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said after the meeting that if diplomatic efforts do not end the war, the US will “simply move on”.
