The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine officially codified and put into operation the new armored evacuation vehicle “Jura-EVAK”. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Defense.
“Jura-EVAK” was created by a Ukrainian manufacturer with many years of experience in the field of armored vehicles. The car is equipped with a powerful diesel engine, has a 4×4 wheel formula and a manual gearbox. To improve passability on difficult terrain, the chassis was modernized: the front and rear suspension were strengthened, off-road tires were installed, and the braking system was strengthened.
The car is built according to the modular principle and is designed for six people – a driver, a combat medic and four passengers. Its hull is protected against small arms, debris and explosions. “Jura-EVAK” is equipped with systems necessary for evacuating the wounded: video surveillance, means of light camouflage, countermeasures against UAV attacks, ventilation, air conditioning, as well as an automated stretcher loading system.
“In a war with the Russian aggressor, when the enemy does not follow any conventions and uses various means of defeating medics and their transport, the evacuation of a wounded soldier is often a difficult and dangerous task. And here the evacuation transport plays an extremely important role.
Its operational characteristics, ballistic protection, the presence of means of countering attacks by enemy UAVs. Often, the chances of successfully completing evacuation tasks in difficult situations depend on this.” – noted Deputy Minister of Defense Valery Churkin.
According to him, the Defense Forces currently use a variety of vehicles of both domestic and foreign production: armored vehicles on a wheeled or tracked basis, all-terrain vehicles, buggies, ATVs, as well as robotic platforms. The choice of transport for evacuation depends on the available resources and the situation on the battlefield.
