The Ministry of Economy forecasts the growth of Ukraine’s GDP in 2026 at the level of 2.5%

The Ministry of Economy expects Ukraine’s GDP to grow by 2.5% in 2026, while the World Bank lowered its forecast to 2%. This was announced by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev during the hour of questions to the government

According to him, previously the World Bank in its calculations was based on the assumption of the end of Russia’s war against Ukraine, so the projected growth for the next year was higher.

“When these forecasts are revised, they accordingly reduce growth to the real level. The Ministry of Economy estimates next year’s growth at approximately 2.5%, and we keep this forecast, Sobolev explained.

According to preliminary estimates of the ministry, in August 2025, the GDP grew by more than 5% compared to August 2024, by approximately 5.3%. The main factors of this were the intensification of construction, development of processing industry and growth in the agricultural sector.

“There will be increased growth in the second half of this year. And this will characteristically distinguish us from what is in Russia, the minister noted.

He emphasized that growth in the Russian Federation is slowing down every month and will eventually drop to zero. At the same time, growth at the level of 3–4% is expected in Ukraine in September and October.
