The Ministry of Finance will oblige taxi services and marketplaces to submit data on users’ incomes to tax authorities

The government initiative will be announced on the eve of the largest tax increase.

The government plans to oblige taxi services, housing rentals and marketplaces to submit information about their users’ incomes to the State Tax Service. This was announced by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine on August 16 after the meeting of Deputy Minister Svitlana Vorobey with representatives of these companies. This initiative appeared against the background of the largest tax increase during the war, announced in July.

The meeting discussed the implementation of the income reporting system for individuals and legal entities that earn through online platforms such as Uklon, Bolt, Glovo, OLX and others. Operators of digital platforms are planned to be obliged to collect information about the income of their users and transfer it to the Tax Office.

Deputy Minister of Finance Svitlana Vorobey noted that this initiative will contribute to the harmonization of the tax legislation of Ukraine with the norms of the European Union and the improvement of tax culture.

The move to oblige digital platforms to hand over user income data to the Tax Office comes amid the government’s July announcement of the biggest tax hike since the war.

On October 20, 2023, draft law No. 10166 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which provides for the introduction of a simplified taxation system for individuals who work through online platforms or have irregular and episodic earnings, in particular for drivers and couriers.
