The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland called on its citizens to leave the territory of Belarus
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland called on its citizens to leave the territory of Belarus and refrain from traveling there. This was announced by Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Pawel Wronski during a briefing, reports RMF FM.
He commented on the incident with the detention in Belarus of a Catholic monk from Poland, whom the Belarusian authorities accused of espionage during the Russian-Belarusian exercises “Zapad-2025”:
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically does not recommend traveling to the territory of Belarus. Polish citizens may encounter events there that will not be favorable for them. It is not a democratic country, nor is it a country friendly to the Republic of Poland.
Vronsky added that Warsaw will provide support to the detained Pole:
“We assume that one of the goals of this measure, which is an obvious provocation, is to destabilize the situation both in Poland and to strengthen its image in Ukraine. We don’t want to participate in such a theater.
As reported Belarusian publication “Zerkalo”, on September 4, a story with footage of the detention of Polish citizen Grzegorz Havel from Krakow was broadcast on the state television of Belarus. He was thrown a collection of information about training “Zapad-2025”.
According to the publication, Havel is a deeply religious Catholic, defended his thesis on this topic and belongs to the Carmelite order. In Poland, the demonstrative detention of a Catholic monk on charges of espionage was called a provocation.
We remind you that on August 6, the first train with Russian military and equipment arrived in Belarus for training and further participation in joint exercises with the Belarusian army “Zapad-2025”.
On August 12, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced that these exercises will take place from September 12 to 16. Their main goal is to check the ability of Belarus and Russia to guarantee security and repel possible aggression.
