The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Ukrainians refrain from traveling to Hungary due to the actions of local authorities

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recommends citizens to temporarily refrain from visiting Hungary in light of the incident involving the kidnapping of seven employees of Oschadbank.

The department reported that the recommendations were made public after the events in Budapest, where, according to the Ukrainian side, Ukrainian citizens were kidnapped and the property of the state bank was appropriated.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Ukrainians to refrain from traveling to Hungary, and also, if possible, not to use its territory for transit during travel to other countries. Instead, citizens are advised to plan routes through other states.

Such recommendations are explained by the fact that Ukraine cannot currently guarantee the safety of its citizens in this country “against the backdrop of the arbitrary actions of the Hungarian authorities”.

Separately, the ministry addressed Ukrainian and European companies with a warning about the risks of doing business in Hungary.

“We recommend taking these risks into account in the context of any business activity in this country,” the Foreign Ministry emphasized in a statement.
