Hantaviruses are circulating in Ukraine, but the predominant form of infection remains fever with renal syndrome. This was announced by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko during the government’s question hour.
“Ukraine is a natural center of hantavirus circulation. Our preferred variant of hantavirus infection is fever with renal syndrome, and what we see in the media today is with pulmonary syndrome,” Viktor Lyashko noted.
According to him, the Ukrainian side has the necessary information about the citizens of Ukraine who were members of the crew of the liner under the flag of the Netherlands and went on a cruise from Argentina. The data was received within the framework of international medical and sanitary regulations.
It is known where exactly the Ukrainians arrived after the end of the flight and where they are in isolation. The Ministry of Health also emphasizes that hantavirus is recorded in Ukraine every year, and it is transmitted exclusively from rodents. Possible symptoms of the disease include high fever, muscle and back pain, rash, breathing problems, and kidney damage.
