The Ministry of Justice denied rumors about new home purchase regulations that were supposed to come into effect on January 1
The Ministry of Justice stated that false messages about allegedly new rules for purchasing real estate, which are to come into effect from January 1, 2026, are being spread on social networks. The department emphasized that no innovations are being introduced in this regard, but we are talking about requirements that have been in effect in Ukraine for over ten years.
The press service explained that the current regulations oblige notaries to verify the origin of funds during real estate transactions for an amount of 400 thousand hryvnias or more. To do this, the notary may ask the buyer to provide documents confirming his income or legal source of money. In particular, these may be a declaration of property status and income, documents about inheritance or gifts, confirmation of receiving a loan or credit, as well as certificates of income from the sale of property or other legal income.
The Ministry of Justice separately emphasized that the legislation on financial monitoring, which establishes these requirements, has not changed, so there is no reason to talk about the emergence of new rules.
