Law enforcement officers detained members of a drug gang that organized a channel for the delivery of cannabis from the United States and was engaged in its distribution on the territory of Ukraine. About this informs press service of the National Police.
The perpetrators received parcels from America, registered to false persons. Parcels of coffee, cookies and groceries were hiding batches of cannabis weighing from 3 to 5 kg. Drugs were sold through a wide network of wholesale and retail drug shops in Telegram, which operated throughout the country. Payment for the “goods” was made through electronic wallets, after which the funds were transferred to cash.
Profits from the sale of drugs were distributed among the members of the group and used to expand their activities. In the course of investigative and operational actions, the law enforcement officers recorded the smuggling of 57 kg of cannabis, the total value of which exceeds 23 million hryvnias. Since the beginning of 2024, about 100 contraband shipments that reached Ukraine have been documented.
During 45 searches in Poltava and Kyiv regions, more than 23 kg of cannabis worth about 9 million hryvnias were seized. Cars, expensive watches, weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, draft records, so-called “business documentation” and cash in various currencies amounting to more than 29.4 million hryvnias were also confiscated.
