The government allowed the involvement of private aircraft in the air defense system

At the meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution providing for the involvement of private aircraft in the air defense system. For the first time, the legal mechanism for their use in air defense has been regulated, informs press service of the Ministry of Defense.
“Until today, there were no legal grounds for involving private aircraft in the performance of air defense tasks, despite the fact that conscious citizens have long been offering their equipment and their participation in repelling enemy air attacks. This step will make it possible to strengthen the capabilities of air defense in the conditions of the growing use of attack UAVs by the enemy.” – explained Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov.
The project was developed by the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation to implement the decision of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The main goal is to create an effective mechanism for the detection, support and neutralization of air threats, as well as the involvement of trained and motivated citizens to perform air defense tasks in conditions of increased enemy activity.
The document envisages the possibility of involving private manned aircraft in the air defense system. For the first time, the legal procedure for their use has been established: the procedure for temporary registration has been simplified, and the terms have been shortened to 10 days, while previously such registration for state aviation vessels lasted from 2 to 6 months.
The financing of the project will be carried out from budget allocations of the Ministry of Defense, funds from local budgets, contributions from citizens through the UNITED24 platform and other sources permitted by law.
