The NATO summit will be held in Washington on July 9-11

The United States will host the NATO Summit in Washington, DC from July 9 to 11, 2024, the Alliance has announced. The official activities of the summit will begin on the morning of July 10, and will end with press conferences in the afternoon of July 11.

This is stated in press release, published on the Alliance website.

The summit will mark the 75th anniversary of NATO’s founding and will be the fourth to be held in the United States. Washington last hosted a NATO summit in 2012.

It is expected that the leaders of 30 NATO member countries, as well as representatives of partner countries and international organizations will take part in the meeting. Official events will include plenary sessions, bilateral meetings and other discussions.

“This summit will be a landmark event that will emphasize NATO’s unity and determination in the face of global challenges,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

It is expected that one of the key issues on the summit agenda will be the war in Ukraine. NATO leaders are likely to discuss additional support for Ukraine and ways to strengthen the Alliance’s deterrence and defense against Russian aggression.

Other topics likely to be discussed include terrorism, cyber security and climate change. Leaders are also likely to update NATO’s Strategic Concept, a key document that defines the Alliance’s goals and objectives.
