The new pontiff Leo XIV was teased as a ‘Pope’ in his childhood.

The new Pope Leo XIV, in the world of Robert Francis Prevost, was fascinated by the priesthood from an early age, for which he was often teased as the “Pope of Rome”. About it in an interview with The New York Times told his older brother, Louis Prevost.

He recalled that the future head of the Catholic Church liked to play priest, while other children dreamed of being cowboys or bank robbers.

“We often teased him: ‘La-la-la, you’re going to be the Pope.'” Louis said.

The future pontiff was a pacifist from childhood, unlike his older brother, a former marine. Louis believes that the new Pope will be close in spirit to Pope Francis.

The enthronement ceremony of Pope Leo XIV will take place on Sunday, May 18, in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican. According to the Vatican statement, the first general audience of the pontiff is scheduled for May 21. After his official inauguration, he will begin his duties as the spiritual leader of Catholics around the world.

Leo XIV became the first Pope from the USA. His election took place on May 8, the day after the beginning of the conclave, as a result of the fourth round of voting by the cardinals. It is expected that delegations from various countries, including state leaders and representatives of religious communities, will arrive for the enthronement.

We will remind that the predecessor of Leo XIV was Pope Francis, who headed the church since 2013. He died of a stroke on April 21 at the age of 88.
