The police opened criminal proceedings against the head of Desnyansk RDA Bakhmatov: KMDA

The police opened criminal proceedings against the head of the Desnyansk District State Administration of Kyiv, Maksym Bakhmatov, on the charge of “obstructing the activity of a deputy.” This was reported by the Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Hanna Starostenko.

“The police initiated criminal proceedings under Art. 351 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Obstructing the activity of a deputy). Let me remind you that last week, during an open report in the Desnian RDA, I was denied the right to speak, physical force and public insults were used by Maksym Bakhmatov, the head of the RDA, – said Hanna Starostenko.

According to her, she expects an honest investigation from the law enforcement officers, and a public apology from Bakhmatov.

“This is unacceptable for a representative of the authorities and dangerous as a precedent. Only one force should act at public events – the force of law. It is not about a “personal conflict,” but about respect for institutions, the safety of women in politics, and zero tolerance for violence. I expect an objective investigation by the National Police and a public apology, added the deputy.

We will remind you that on August 27, during his report, Bakhmatov attacked the deputy of the Kyiv City Council and the deputy head of the KMDA Hanna Starostenko, causing her bodily injuries. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko called on the Office of the President to evaluate the actions of a member of his team, and law enforcement officers to qualify them in accordance with the law. The “UDAR Vitaly Klychka” party, from which Starostenko was elected to the Kyiv City Council, demands the immediate release of Bakhmatov.
