The President appointed a new Deputy Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Pavlo Yelizarov Deputy Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The head of state announced the personnel decision on his Telegram channel.
According to the president, the Air Force is facing changes in approaches to air defense, in particular in the use of mobile fire groups, interceptor drones and other means of “small” Air Defense.
“There will be a new approach to the use of air defense by the Air Force – regarding mobile fire groups, interceptor drones, and other means of “small” air defense. This system will be transformed”, – Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The President also emphasized that the special unit “Lazar”, led by Pavlo Yelizarov, demonstrates effective work, and the commander himself is well known in the army.
“Together with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the military command, a new organization for the entire component of precisely such sky protection should be developed – and will be developed –, – Zelenskyy added.
Pavlo Yelizarov is a colonel of the National Guard of Ukraine and the commander of the separate special forces unit “Lazar”. He has experience in public administration, in particular, he served as Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine in 2007–2008, and was also Deputy Head of the State Road Service of Ukraine in 2009–2010. In different years, he worked as a producer and media manager on Savik Shuster’s talk show. Since 2022, he has been serving in the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
