The President of Finland made a loud statement regarding Ukraine’s strikes deep into the Russian Federation
During his speech at the Globsec Forum international conference in Prague, the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, emphasized the need to completely remove restrictions on the use of Western weapons by Ukrainian forces to strike the territory of the aggressor state. He believes that the US and its allies should allow Ukraine to use all available resources to defend its territory and repel Russian aggression.
According to Stubb, Russia is carrying out illegal aggression against Ukraine, violating all international norms and committing serious war crimes. He called for the abolition of all restrictions imposed on Ukrainians regarding the use of weapons, as they are senseless in the conditions of aggression. The President of Finland emphasized that if the USA were to cancel these restrictions, the situation at the front could change dramatically.
Stubb also expressed his desire to appeal to world leaders to change their approach to this war. He mentioned that if he could, he would call the President of the United States and urge him to allow the use of American weapons on Russian territory, and he would also appeal to the President of China to influence Vladimir Putin to stop the aggression.
Until these steps are taken, the Finnish president believes that all of Ukraine’s allies should continue to provide financial, military and technical assistance to Ukraine to achieve victory on the battlefield.
Stubb reminded that Finland is among the largest donors of aid to Ukraine, based on the volume of the country’s GDP. He emphasized that the Finns have historical experience of resisting aggression from Russia and understand the importance of supporting Ukraine in its struggle for independence.
The President of Finland also noted that the main goal of Ukraine is to preserve its independence, sovereignty and gain a full-fledged place among Western countries. According to him, Ukraine has already won this battle and will become a member of the EU and NATO in the future.
According to Stubb, Vladimir Putin aimed to “Russify” Ukraine, prevent the expansion of NATO and split the Euro-Atlantic community, but all these plans have completely failed. He emphasized that the international community should continue to prove to the Kremlin that aggression against other countries will cost too much.
