“The refusal of the United States to support Ukraine will have serious consequences for world security”: Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron warned that the US refusal to support Ukraine will have serious consequences not only for Kyiv, but also for global security. He emphasized that if Putin is not stopped now, he will continue the war to other European countries.
In an interview with a French publication The Tribune Macron emphasized that the United States plays a critical role in global security, so it cannot avoid the situation. He warned that any attempt by Washington to conclude a truce without clear security guarantees for Ukraine will only weaken the influence of the United States and jeopardize its position in the confrontation with Russia, China and other international players.
Macron emphasized that the Americans should realize that supporting Ukraine is in their interests. He noted that the US actions over the past three years are fully consistent with its diplomatic and military tradition, and expressed confidence in the need to continue this policy.
At the same time, Macron believes that Donald Trump wants to reach an agreement with Putin rather than adhere to the traditional principles of American foreign policy. The French president called it a big mistake, stressing that peace is possible only under conditions of justice and security for Ukraine, and leaving it to its own devices will only increase threats to Europe.
Macron also stressed that Russia poses an immediate threat to Europe because it is already waging hybrid warfare, carrying out terrorist attacks and large-scale disinformation campaigns. According to him, if the Kremlin is not stopped now, its next targets may be Moldova, and later Romania.
