Kasparov called on Scholz to prevent a repeat of the tragedy: an appeal through Bild with a photo from Ukraine

Russian opposition figure Garry Kasparov bought a page in the Bild tabloid to post an ad calling for military aid to Ukraine. About this informs DW.

The ad was designed in the form of a photo depicting an elderly woman near a fresh grave, surrounded by numerous Ukrainian flags in the cemetery.

“Germany once brought the world to the brink. Chancellor Scholz, don’t let it happen again. Give Ukraine the military aid it really needs.”, says the message.

Kasparov has been involved in political activities since 2005, was an active member of the “Other Russia” coalition and participated in mass anti-Putin protests in 2011-2012. In 2013, he was forced to leave Russia due to fear of political persecution.

We will remind you that on August 17, the German mass media reported on the possible reduction of military aid to Ukraine by Germany next year, which may be halved, and by 2027 – tenfold. This information was obtained from the letter of the Minister of Finance of Germany, Christian Lindner, to the Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, where it was noted that the economic measures are forcing the Ministry of Finance to reduce the budget, which may affect the financial support of Ukraine.

However, the German government later denied these rumors, saying that financial aid to Ukraine would not be limited due to domestic political considerations or problems with the federal budget.
