On March 24, Russian troops launched a missile attack on the center of Sumy. As a result of the attack, residential buildings and a school were damaged, and there were casualties. Currently, 24 adults and 4 children are known to have been wounded. All emergency services are on site, informs Volodymyr Artyukh, head of the Sumy OVA.
“The enemy launched a rocket attack on the center of the city. Several high-rise buildings, a school, were damaged. The children were in a protective structure, they are now being evacuated, all are alive.” – said Artyukh.
According to him, the rescue services are working on eliminating the consequences and extinguishing fires, going round by apartment to provide assistance to the victims.
Acting Mayor of Sumy Artem Kobzar specified that Russian troops hit the residential sector and infrastructure facilities of the city, in particular, children’s hospitals were damaged.
Representatives of the emergency response headquarters will work in kindergartens No. 10 and 25. Here, representatives of the city council will advise the victims and accept applications for inspection of damaged housing, and the police – applications for the commission of a criminal offense. The city council informed that overnight accommodation will be provided for the residents of the damaged apartments in these establishments.
