The Anti-Corruption Center called on the SBU to check access to state secrets of First Deputy Prosecutor General Vdovichenko
The Anti-Corruption Center sent an appeal to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine with a demand to conduct a re-examination of the First Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Maria Vdovichenko regarding her access to state secrets. The CPC draws attention to the fact that Vdovichenko’s close relatives live in Russia.
The appeal was sent on December 28, 2025. Although the SBU has had a change of leadership since then, the Anti-Corruption Center is awaiting a response from the head of the Service, Ruslan Kravchenko, and an inspection.
The CPC’s statement notes that Vdovichenko’s tenure as First Deputy Prosecutor General poses potential threats to national security. According to the organization, the official’s closest relatives have Russian citizenship, work in the Russian security forces, and pay taxes to the aggressor state. Despite this, Vdovichenko was promoted and appointed to a senior position in the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The CPC described the situation as unacceptable, emphasizing that providing access to state secrets to an official with such family ties in any warring country should be grounds for immediate dismissal.
The Center believes that Vdovichenko may have provided inaccurate information when applying for access to state secrets, since she declares her father only as a citizen of Ukraine, although he has a Russian passport and runs a business in Crimea, paying taxes to the occupation authorities. The CPC emphasized that, according to the law on state secrets, providing false information is grounds for refusal or cancellation of admission.
Mariya Vdovichenko was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General in June 2025, and on December 11 of the same year she became the first deputy to Ruslan Kravchenko. Prior to that, she held the position of First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office since May 2023 and effectively performed the duties of the head of the metropolitan prosecutor’s office. Previously, she was the deputy prosecutor of Kyiv Oleh Kiper and is considered a close associate associated with the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.
