The SBI has completed an investigation into a large-scale embezzlement scheme for military food
The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a pre-trial investigation into an organized group that robbed the Ukrainian army of millions of hryvnias between June and November 2023. The group included military personnel from one of the units in the Kyiv region and representatives of a food supplier.

The perpetrators hid and did not give the soldiers part of the food that was delivered to the canteen. The products “saved” in this way were sold again using forged documents, and the received funds were distributed among the group members.
As a result of the criminal scheme, losses of 5.4 million hryvnias were caused to the state, and almost 1,000 servicemen did not receive adequate food during martial law.
After the SBI exposed the criminal scheme and carried out a series of searches and arrests of those involved, the situation with food in the military unit significantly improved. The military now receives a full ration of food, according to the norms.
In order to compensate for the damages caused, the property and funds of the participants were seized. The sanction of the articles provides for punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term of up to 15 years.
Procedural management in the case is carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Central region.
