The SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation exposed officials who embezzled over 64 million hryvnias for the purchase of cars for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine together with the State Bureau of Investigation exposed scheme of appropriation of budget funds in the State Special Service of Transport (SST). As a result of comprehensive measures, officials were identified who, together with their accomplices, seized over 64 million hryvnias intended for the purchase of trucks for the military.
The investigation established that the head of one of the logistics management departments of the DSST Administration was involved in the embezzlement. He involved several military officials from the unit that ordered the cars, as well as representatives of an affiliated commercial company, into the scheme.
According to the investigators, in the fall of 2024, a DSST official organized the victory in the tender of a controlled commercial enterprise. This company won the auction, although its offer was more than UAH 64 million more expensive than other participants.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized documents, mobile phones, stamps and other evidence from the suspects, which confirm illegal activities. Cash in foreign currency equivalent to more than 105 million hryvnias was also found. Its origin is established.
At this time, all participants of the scheme have been notified of the suspicion under part. 5th century 27 and h. 5th century 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (exceeding official powers in the conditions of martial law, which led to grave consequences, and aiding and abetting). Investigations are ongoing to find out all the circumstances of the offense and bring other possible participants of the scheme to justice.
Operational measures were carried out by the employees of the SBU Office in the Lviv region together with the employees of the Territorial Department of the Security Intelligence Service under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western region.
