The special services of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania exposed the spy network of Belarus in Europe

The espionage network, which was built by the Belarusian special services in Europe, was exposed thanks to the cooperation of the special services of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania. This was reported by the Czech counterintelligence agency BIS, reports CNN.

According to the BIS, a group of European agents discovered spies in several countries who worked for the Belarusian KGB. Among them is the former deputy head of the Moldovan special service SIS, who passed secret information to the Belarusian side.

The Czech Republic also expelled a Belarusian agent who operated under diplomatic cover. He was given 72 hours to leave the country. The BIS explained that Belarus was able to build its network thanks to the fact that its diplomats were able to move freely in European countries.

“In order to effectively counter this hostile activity in Europe, it is necessary to limit the movement of accredited diplomats from Russia and Belarus within the Schengen zone”, – stressed the head of BIS Michal Kudelka.

In turn, the Romanian agency for combating organized crime DIICOT announced that it had executed a warrant for the arrest of a 47-year-old suspect of high treason. According to the investigation, a former employee of the SIS of Moldova handed over state secrets to the Belarusian special services, thereby endangering national security.

DIICOT specified that in 2024-2025 this suspect met twice with Belarusian agents in Budapest, where he probably received instructions and monetary rewards.
