The spiritual crisis and the moral decline of society are destroying the future of the country
The period of modern development of Ukraine is connected with the problem of the revival of its culture, as well as the understanding of the role of spirituality in the life of society. Family and spiritual values, morality, as well as mentality are the soul of any nation, because its character and ideals are accumulated in them, preserved and multiplied throughout the entire historical period. In these value priorities, the past of the people is encoded, which is passed down from generation to generation, thanks to them, Ukrainians have preserved their national identity.
However, at present, despite the thousand-year-old roots of the Ukrainian nation, the system of its deep moral and ethical values is not coherent and coherent, moreover, it is gradually collapsing. They are diligently trying to impose not the best European principles on us – same-sex marriage, homosexuality, gender reassignment, leveling of family traditions, debauchery, lack of spirituality, etc. For example, despite the war, the March of Equality and the charity LGBTQ+ festival will be held in Kyiv for the first time since the war. These guidelines, foreign to us, have almost no effect on the older generation with established views on life, but they have an extremely negative effect on the youth.
Here is another example of many. On May 30, Ukrainian professional actress of adult films Josephine Jackson became the speaker of the “Platform of Opportunities” at Hryhoriy Skovoroda University of Pereyaslav. This is proudly announced on the official website of the educational institution and its Facebook page. As noted, during the event, Josephine Jackson (her real name is Yulia Senyuk) told the audience about her education and reasons for choosing her professional path, hate, media recognition and fulfilled dreams.

The actress also told how she came to “adult cinema”, how she filmed and how cool it is, and also predicted how much Ukraine would earn from the legalization of porn and shared her plans for the future. At a meeting with students and teachers, the porn star gave a number of tips, which were enthusiastically called “exclusive” at the university. The actress expressed hope that the conversation with her will benefit the participants of this event, saying:
“You will say that the field in which I work does not require a lot of brains. But if you want career growth, you need to have a brain everywhere.”
Undoubtedly, the brain is needed! Whether it is necessary for the filming of porn films is a controversial question, but the university management definitely needs it. This state higher educational institution positions itself as “a modern regional institution of higher education, the activity of which is based on the deep centuries-old traditions of the development of education in the Pereyaslav region and meets the modern requirements of the information society, the best examples of the national higher education.” In this case, how is the approval of the visit to the educational institution of the porn star related to the principles of its activity? Why can it teach future teachers, historians, biologists, philologists, financiers something useful? Why is there no information about the fact that eminent scientists, authoritative figures of culture and art are invited to the educational institution, who can really impart the necessary knowledge to young people? What is the pride of the university management for the fact that it was visited by a porn star? One gets the impression that everything has turned upside down in the country, double standards prevail everywhere.
Society is always in a state of renewal, new knowledge and discoveries of various scales appear every day, we plunge into modern problem situations, solve them, get out of them, and everything goes round again. At the same time, the change of value systems is a natural and inevitable process that does not always obey the laws of logic, just like life itself. In general, “cultural impoverishment” is currently observed in society. Mass culture, not always of high quality, flooded television, cinema, music, and book publications. Serials, multimillion-selling detective stories, pop, one-day movies without any meaning – all these elements of mass culture are gaining more and more popularity, while real art is of interest to fewer and fewer people.
At the same time, there is a process of destruction of eternal moral imperatives: “don’t kill”, “don’t steal”, “don’t lie”, “sympathize with and help other people”, etc. They were replaced by the concepts of achieving material well-being by any means, career growth, cynicism, aggression, cruelty, permissiveness. However, the value orientations of the individual play a decisive role in matters of spiritual, cultural and even material development of society.
Now people are prone to constant stress, permanent changes, modern realities do not give them any guarantees of stability, which leads to uncertainty of views, motives and actions. It is on this basis that moral guidelines and norms are deformed and, as a result, the individual loses valuable wealth accumulated over generations. For a person brought up to respect moral principles, it is not a problem to determine what is good and what is bad. The moral rules developed by the generations of our ancestors are clear and understandable, and they should be passed on to the next children and youth.
The priority direction in the formation of value orientations of our youth should be not only education, but also a mandatory educational process, which is almost absent in higher educational institutions. At the same time, it is necessary not to force young people to believe in something, but to form a highly spiritual ideological system of values based on already existing attitudes. We need a national ideology, which does not exist, and not individual loud and empty slogans. It is necessary to explain to young people how to organize a spiritual and moral Ukrainian society, and not to believe what is imposed on us.
Unfortunately, now most of the youth and children’s and youth national programs remain only formal plans for the future on paper. Committees for youth affairs are not able to organize mass involvement of young people in nationwide affairs, because the latter practically do not exist, and if they do exist, they are not of interest to young people.
Mahatma Gandhi once said:
“We will be destroyed by politics without principles, pleasure without conscience, wealth without work, knowledge without character, business without morality, science without humanity…”
As the history of human civilization shows, the spiritual crisis and the fall of social morality lead to social cataclysms, as a result of which the national elite is destroyed, and society is pushed back decades in its historical development. That is why our children and young people desperately need not meetings with porn stars, not LGBT parades, but useful books, programs, mass events that would educate the eternal values of goodness, decency, respect, nobility, compassion, and humanity. In the pursuit of “European values”, one cannot lose the best qualities of our people, which have developed historically – deep morality and spirituality. Our life, family and the future of our country depend on the system of values that we adhere to.
