The State Bureau of Investigation exposed a tax official from Chernivtsi region who facilitated tax evasion by familiar entrepreneurs

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation reported the suspicion of a high-ranking official of the Vyzhnytskyi Department of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Chernivtsi region. According to the investigation, the official had been assisting familiar entrepreneurs in evading mandatory payments to the State Budget for a long time. The scheme was based on systematic interference in electronic reporting and tax data registration systems.

Investigators established that for more than three years the person involved had been making unauthorized changes to tax declarations in electronic registers. He corrected the information in such a way that errors and debts were not reflected in the general accounting. This allowed businessmen to avoid the calculation and payment of the mandatory single tax, which remained unnoticed by automated control systems.

“The official used his official powers to establish corrupt connections in business spheres, receiving not only monetary remuneration for his services, but also the loyalty of local entrepreneurs”, — emphasized the representative of the territorial department of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to preliminary information, at least eleven individual entrepreneurs used the services of the suspect. As a result of such actions, the state budget received more than 1.5 million hryvnias less. The official has already been dismissed from the ranks of the tax service, and law enforcement officers continue to collect evidence of his illegal activities.

“Abuse of official position has led to serious consequences for state interests, which is confirmed by the results of financial audits,” he noted.
