Law enforcement officials arrested the attacker immediately after receiving the money he took from his car
In Lviv Oblast, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) exposed an employee of the fire and rescue unit of the State Emergency Service who, in return for a bribe, promised to help a resident of the suburbs of Lviv get a deferment from mobilization. This is stated in messages on the DBR website.
Case details
The employee assured that he has contacts in the local territorial center of recruitment and social support, thanks to which he can agree not only on updating credentials, but also on deferment of mobilization for one year. The fireman estimated the cost of such a “service” at 5.5 thousand US dollars.
The law enforcement officers detained him immediately after receiving the money, which he took in his car. After that, searches were conducted, during which additional evidence of his illegal activities was discovered.
Prosecution
The official was accused of extorting and receiving funds for influencing the decision-making (Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This crime carries a severe penalty, including imprisonment for a significant period of time.
Further actions
Currently, petitions are being prepared for the selection of a preventive measure, in particular, detention, and suspension of the suspect from the performance of official duties. An investigation is also underway to establish the involvement of other persons in this illegal activity.
