SAP and the European Prosecutor’s Office signed a Memorandum of Cooperation
A meeting between the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office Oleksandr Klymenko and the Chief European Prosecutor Laura Koveshi took place in Luxembourg, as a result of which a memorandum on cooperation between SAP and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) was signed.
This document opens a new stage in cooperation between Ukrainian and European prosecutors. It provides for the creation of a permanent communication channel for the coordination of actions and a joint response to offenses related to the funds of the European Union, which are directed to the support and restoration of Ukraine.
The signing of the Memorandum was a confirmation of the maturity of the anti-corruption system of Ukraine and its integration into the European legal space. The European Prosecutor’s Office was created to protect the EU budget from fraud and corruption.
Cooperation between the SAP and EPPO should become an additional guarantee of transparent use of international aid, protect against abuses in the field of defense, humanitarian and reconstruction programs, and also contribute to strengthening integrity in the field of public spending and increasing confidence in recovery processes. This will ensure that every euro from partners works for a strong and stable Ukraine.
The visit was organized with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative, and the Ukrainian side expressed its gratitude to the partners for their constant and comprehensive assistance in strengthening the capacity of the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office.
