The State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine discovered over 24 thousand dangerous toys on the Ukrainian market
In 2025, the State Food and Consumer Protection Service identified 55 types of dangerous products, including 28 – children’s toys. In total, more than 24 thousand toys did not meet safety standards and posed a real threat to children’s health. This was reported by the press center of the agency.
Laboratory studies have shown that some toys can cause allergies, poisoning, and prolonged contact with them threatens with chronic toxic effects due to an excess of harmful chemicals. In some cases, the design of the toys had dangerous elements that could injure children.
“The State Food and Consumer Protection Service constantly monitors the market of non-food products, in particular children’s toys, to prevent dangerous goods from entering it”, – the department emphasizes.
Experts advise parents to pay attention to:
- the presence of markings in Ukrainian, information about the manufacturer and a mark of compliance with technical regulations;
- the absence of a strong chemical odor and sharp parts;
- a battery compartment protected by a screw;
- check toys on the portal “Attention”, where dangerous goods are published;
- avoid purchases at spontaneous markets or from sellers without documents.
It was previously reported that in the first quarter of 2025, the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine detected violations on more than a million units of products and adopted almost 2 thousand decisions on restrictive measures. Dangerous products were removed or recalled from the market.
