The summit of the “coalition of the willing” ended in Paris

The “coalition of the willing” summit, attended by representatives of 31 countries, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, ended in Paris. The results of the meeting were commented by the Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, informs The Guardian.

Starmer stressed that now is not the time to lift sanctions against Russia. Zelensky, in turn, emphasized the importance of “speaking with a common voice” and continuing to “push Russia” to responsibility. He also noted that “everyone understood and understands that today Russia does not want any peace”, and added that during the coming “weeks and days” work will continue to ensure security guarantees for Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Great Britain called the meeting “very constructive” and noted that Russia was “playing games”, while the participants of the summit had “complete clarity that now is not the time to lift sanctions”.

“On the contrary, what we have discussed is how we can strengthen sanctions to support the US initiative to bring Russia to the negotiating table through further pressure from this group of countries.”, – he emphasized.

According to Starmer, the summit discussed further “military and operational” steps to support any potential ceasefire or peace initiatives in Ukraine, whether on land, in the air or at sea.
