The Supreme Court of Ukraine chooses a preventive measure for Andriy Yermak
The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court is holding a hearing on the appointment of a preventive measure to the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak. Due to the large volume of materials, it is expected that the hearing will not be completed within one day.
During the meeting, the prosecutors did not oppose an open hearing, but noted that they were not yet ready to make some of the evidence public. Because of this, they requested that the hearing be closed at the stage of examining the evidence.
The judge noted that it would be technically difficult to do so due to the large number of people present. There were dozens of journalists in the hall, as well as MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, former intelligence officer Roman Chervinsky and others. So the court decided to hold the hearing in open mode.
Yermak’s lawyer Ihor Fomin said that he received the case materials only at 11:30. According to him, there are 16 volumes of 250 pages each, so he asked to postpone the hearing. Prosecutor Valentyna Hrebenyuk agreed that it would not be possible to process all the materials in one day, but called for the consideration of the motion to begin. The judge agreed.
On May 11, NABU and SAPO reported the exposure of an organized group suspected of legalizing 460 million hryvnias in an elite construction project near Kyiv. According to anti-corruption authorities, the former head of the OP is a participant in this scheme. He was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – legalization (laundering) of property obtained by criminal means.
