The Trump administration plans to “voluntarily” resettle Gaza and build a resort there

The Donald Trump administration is circulating a post-war plan for Gaza modeled after his promise to “take control” enclave. The document provides for the transfer of the territory to the care of the United States for at least 10 years, during which they want to turn it into a tourist center and a high-tech manufacturing and innovation hub. This is stated in a 38-page prospectus, reports The Washington Post.

The plan calls for the resettlement of two million residents to be “voluntary,” but the option of moving them to special safe zones inside the enclave for the duration of recovery is also being considered. Land owners will be offered a digital token in exchange for the right to redevelop the property. It can be used to set up a new life in another country or later be exchanged for housing in one of the six to eight “smart cities with artificial intelligence” planned for construction in Gaza.

Every Palestinian who agrees to leave is promised $5,000 in cash, a four-year rental subsidy and a year’s worth of food. According to the authors’ calculations, each such departure will save the trust fund 23,000 dollars compared to the costs of temporary accommodation and “subsistence” those who will remain in safe zones.

The project itself was named “Trust for the recovery of Gaza, economic acceleration and transformation” (GREAT Trust). It was developed by the same initiators who created the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF), which currently distributes products in the sector. Financial calculations were prepared by a team from the Boston Consulting Group.

Donald Trump discussed the details with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who oversaw Middle East initiatives during the president’s first term and has business interests in the region, were also involved in the work. Calculations in the plan foresee a fourfold return on investment of 100 billion dollars in a decade, if stable “self-generating” income.

At the same time, the question remains open where they plan to “voluntarily” resettle the residents of Gaza. Possible options include Libya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Indonesia and Somaliland. All countries except Indonesia are located in Africa and are in a state of conflict, and Somaliland has no international recognition at all.
