The Verkhorn Rada plans to consider a draft law on combating electronic fraud

Deputies plan to consider draft law No. 10190 aimed at combating electronic communication fraud in the first reading at the next meeting. This is stated in projects the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada meeting.

Bill No. 10190, which is currently awaiting consideration in the first reading, proposes:

  • Introduce a new article 191-1 “Electronic communication fraud” to the Criminal Code. This article will criminalize the unlawful collection, storage, processing and use of personal data and information containing banking secrets.

Establish penalties for electronic communications fraud:

  • From 3 to 8 years of imprisonment for individuals.
  • From 5 to 10 years of imprisonment for a group of persons.
  • From 7 to 12 years of imprisonment in wartime.
  • Additional punishment in the form of confiscation of property.

Establish penalties for creating and participating in a fraudulent group:

  • From 7 to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property for the organizer.
  • From 5 to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property for participants.
  • From 3 to 5 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property (or without it in wartime) for offering to participate in a fraudulent group.
