The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on preparing citizens for national resistance

On March 25, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on certain issues of preparing citizens for national resistance (Reg. No. 13347). Instead of basic combined-arms training, the document introduces a comprehensive approach — preparation for national resistance. It will apply to students and pupils regardless of gender.

The discipline “Fundamentals of National Resistance” will be introduced in educational institutions, and the teaching of the subject “Defense of Ukraine” will be updated and improved.

The law also provides for the creation of specialized Centers for Training Citizens for National Resistance, which will be used to conduct practical classes.

Shooting will take place, in particular, at the training grounds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, certified shooting ranges, and using modern interactive simulators. For persons whose religious beliefs do not allow the use of weapons, the “weapon” modules of the course may be replaced with other components of training. Persons with disabilities or those who have lost their ability to work will be exempted from practical training.

At the same time, the law clearly defines the responsibilities of government bodies in the field of organizing and ensuring the preparation of citizens for national resistance.

The main committee for the development of bill No. 13347 was the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.
