The Verkhovna Rada approved a bill to improve the quality of the Internet
The Parliament has adopted a bill aimed at developing digital infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted communication throughout the country. Thanks to the innovations, mobile Internet will become faster and better, and users will be able to independently check its level. This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
“Parliament has adopted an important bill No. 12094, which will help develop digital infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted communication for all Ukrainians,’, the report says.
According to the document, Internet speed will now become an official indicator of communication quality. To this end, a fixed speed standard in megabits per second will be established, within which mobile operators must provide services.
Ukrainians will be able to independently check the quality of mobile Internet directly from their smartphones. Data on the speed and stability of the connection will automatically be sent to the National Commission for State Regulation in the Sphere of Electronic Communications (NCEC). This will make it possible to identify weak areas of the network and quickly eliminate technical problems. The launch of the mobile Internet quality monitoring system will be announced separately.
The moratorium on checking compliance with license conditions will also be lifted. This will encourage mobile operators to more actively build base stations, particularly in rural areas, in order to reduce the number of “dead zones” without communication.
In addition, national roaming will remain in effect after the end of martial law. This will allow Ukrainians to continue to use the networks of other operators in case of emergencies or communication disruptions.
