The Verkhovna Rada plans to review the level of police salaries

The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Law Enforcement Activities will consider draft law No. 6506-1 at an extraordinary meeting on modernizing the amount of financial support for police officers. This is reported on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The draft proposes to amend Article 94 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Police” and establish that the financial support for police officers must guarantee sufficient material conditions for the proper performance of their duties.

There are no such guarantees in the current version of the law. Currently, monetary benefits are determined depending on the position, special rank, length of service in the police, intensity and conditions of service, qualifications, as well as the presence of a scientific degree or academic title.

The draft law provides that payments should take into account the nature, intensity and danger of work, promote the selection of qualified personnel, stimulate high service results and compensate for the physical and intellectual costs of police officers.

According to the data provided, police officers currently earn an average of 25 thousand hryvnias per month. The draft law has been in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine since 2022, and on March 12, 2025, it was adopted in the first reading with the condition of revision.
