The Verkhovna Rada rejected the draft law on increasing taxes
The Verkhovna Rada failed to pass draft law No. 11416-d, which provided for an increase in taxes in the amount of 30 billion hryvnias, in the first reading. About this reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
According to him, only 224 deputies voted for the draft law, which is not enough for the adoption of the document in the first reading, as a minimum of 226 votes is required. As a result, the document was sent for a repeated first reading.
It is noteworthy that the draft law received the greatest support from the “Servant of the People” faction, where 170 deputies voted “for”. At the same time, the draft law did not find support among the deputies of the “European Solidarity”, “Voice” and “Batkivshchyna” factions, none of whose representatives supported the initiative.
Draft Law No. 11416-d, which the government presented on August 26 as a revised version of the previous document No. 11416, proposed raising taxes, in particular, on bank profits to 50% in 2024, similar to last year’s rate (the current rate is 25%). The document also provided for an increase in the income tax for financial companies to 25% in 2024.
It is worth noting that during the discussion of the draft law, the National Bank of Ukraine and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine spoke against raising the income tax for banks to 50%.
