Ukraine and the EU approved the decision to reduce tariffs on agricultural products

Ukraine and the European Union agreed on a decision to reduce customs duties on agricultural products from Ukraine and increase quotas for their export to EU countries. reported this by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European Integration Taras Kachka.

The decision of the Association Committee in the trade composition will enter into force on October 29. It was adopted after the Council of the European Union approved the terms of a new trade agreement with Ukraine the day before.

“Ukrainian exporters will have the opportunity to take advantage of the new trade regime already this year. The decision is bilateral and valid indefinitely”, – noted Duck.

He also specified that the next revision in the direction of increasing access of Ukrainian goods to the European market is planned in 2028.

We would like to remind you that on October 13, the Council of the EU adopted a decision to reduce or cancel customs duties for a number of Ukrainian agro-food products. This applies to dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and meat products. At the same time, for certain sensitive goods — sugar, poultry, eggs, wheat, corn and honey — access to the EU market will remain limited and will be gradual.

The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU was signed in 2014, and has been in full force since 2017. Its economic component — the DCFTA — provides for the modernization of the Ukrainian economy and the expansion of trade relations with Europe.
