UK fines company for violation of sanctions against Russia for the first time

In Great Britain, a fine was imposed for the first time for violating anti-Russian sanctions introduced in response to Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine. The corresponding fine was issued by the Office for the Implementation of Financial Sanctions (OFSI). About this reported on the website of the Ministry of Finance of Great Britain.

Integral Concierge Services (ICSL) has been fined £15,000 for providing property management services to a person whose assets were frozen under the sanctions regime. According to the investigation, between 2022 and 2023, ICSL made or received 26 payments for providing services to a person subject to financial restrictions. At the same time, the company knew or had reason to suspect that such actions were contrary to British sanctions requirements.

ICSL pleaded guilty and paid the fine in full.

OFSI noted that it is ready to use all legal tools to prosecute those who violate financial sanctions, regardless of the scale of their activities.

This penalty demonstrates OFSI’s clear commitment to prosecuting breaches of financial sanctions wherever they occur. From the largest institutions to the smallest, everyone must comply with the UK’s financial sanctions regime.”, the message says.

We will remind that recently Great Britain introduced new sanctions against five vessels and two organizations connected with the transportation of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG). These measures are aimed at limiting financial flows supporting Russia’s military actions against Ukraine.
