The Verkhovna Rada terminated the Commercial Code of Ukraine
On January 9, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported it in the second reading and in general bill No. 6013 on the peculiarities of the regulation of entrepreneurial activity of certain types of legal entities and their associations in the transition period. This document terminates the Commercial Code of Ukraine and amends the Civil Code of Ukraine and other laws.
A three-year transition period is foreseen for the implementation of the provisions of the law. At this time, the statutes and internal regulations of enterprises must be brought into line with the new law, and until then their application is possible only in parts that do not contradict the new norms.
During this period, the draft law is designed to adapt Ukrainian legislation to the standards and requirements in force in the countries of the European Union. In addition, its implementation is an important step in the implementation of Ukraine’s plan within the framework of the “Ukraine Facility” program.
Bill No. 6013 received a recommendation for the second reading from the Council’s Committee on Economic Development. Prior to this, the document underwent public discussions and meetings with judges, scientists and representatives of civil society. Some provisions of the Economic Code of Ukraine remain valid under the new law and will be in effect during the transition period.
