“The way home”: another child was rescued from the occupied territory

Thanks to the joint efforts of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine and the public union “Ukrainian Network for Children’s Rights”, 5-year-old Maxim, who was separated from his parents during the war, was returned to the territory under the control of the Government of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine writes about this.
“The boy was staying with his grandparents in the Zaporizhzhia region. When the full-scale Russian invasion began, the village where they lived was occupied. The parents did not have time to take the child. For two years, Maxim lived without his closest relatives. For safety reasons, his mother and father did not dare to leave after him to the temporarily occupied territory. The grandmother was also afraid to take her grandson, because there were numerous Russian roadblocks in almost every village“, the message says.
Maksym’s mother contacted the Ministry of Reintegration hotline 15-48. Thanks to cooperation with the “Way Home” project, it was possible to develop a safe return route. Now Maxim is back with his parents. He will celebrate his sixth birthday in May.
In total, “The Way Home” returned 86 children.
