Trump Administration Reconsiders U.S. Participation in UNESCO
Donald Trump’s administration has begun a review of US participation in UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. About this informs press service of the White House.
“The United States will conduct a review of its membership in UNESCO. This review is to be led by the Secretary of State in coordination with the United States Ambassador to the United Nations. It is to be completed within 90 days of the date of this executive order.” – the message says.
The review will include an assessment of whether and how UNESCO’s activities serve US interests. In addition, the review will include an analysis of any anti-Semitism or anti-Israel sentiment within the organization.
We remind you that earlier US President Donald Trump signed a decree on the withdrawal of the country from the UN Human Rights Council. In his opinion, it “protected human rights violators by allowing them to use the organization as a cover from control.”
