Trump and Putin had a phone conversation: discussed, among other things, Ukraine

The previously announced telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin took place. Among other things, the parties discussed the issue of “the earliest possible cessation of hostilities” in Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Kremlin.

“Putin and Trump talked for almost an hour, they discussed, in particular, Ukraine. Putin noted that the search for a negotiated political solution to the conflict is ongoing. Russia will pursue its goals and will not back down from them, Putin told Trump. In general, the conversation, as always, between these two leaders was on the same wave, was frank, businesslike and concrete. The presidents will naturally continue their communication. There is such an agreement.” – said Yuriy Ushakov, assistant to the Russian president.

For his part, Donald Trump said that during his phone conversation with Vladimir Putin, he failed to make any progress regarding the ceasefire in Ukraine.

“No, I haven’t made any progress with him.” – answered Trump when asked about the possibility of concluding a cease-fire agreement.

During a conversation with journalists at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, Trump noted that he discussed the war in Ukraine with Putin, as well as the situation in Iran.

The conversation was the sixth between the leaders since the start of Donald Trump’s presidency, which began on January 20. The previous contact between them took place on June 14.

We will remind you that on July 3, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced during his visit to Denmark that he plans to hold a conversation with Donald Trump soon. According to him, the main topic will be messages about a possible reduction in military aid from the United States.
