Trump declassified documents on the assassinations of Kennedy and Martin Luther King
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order declassifying documents related to the assassination of the 35th US President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert Kennedy and the leader of the civil rights movement, Martin Luther King Jr. Information about it published on the White House website.
“More than 50 years after the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the federal government has not released to the public all of its records related to these events. Their families and the American people deserve transparency and the truth. It is in the national interest to finally release all records related to these murders as a matter of urgency.” – says the message of the White House.
The document states that within 15 days of the publication of the order, the director of national intelligence and the attorney general, in cooperation with the president’s national security adviser, must provide Trump with a plan to fully declassify the records related to the assassination of JFK.
Officials are also instructed to review documents related to the assassinations of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. within 45 days and prepare a plan to declassify them.
