Trump explained why it has not yet been possible to conclude an agreement to end the war in Ukraine
US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine and Russia have been close to concluding a peace agreement several times, but each time the negotiations have broken down due to the retreat of one of the parties. According to him, one of the main reasons for the lack of agreement is the deep enmity between Ukraine and Russia. He emphasized this during a speech to the leaders of South American countries.
“You know, Ukraine and Russia… You would think that there is some kind of friendship between them, but in fact there is enormous hatred between them. It is very difficult for them to reach an agreement. Very, very difficult. We will see what happens next,” Trump said.
He also noted that he is participating in the negotiation process mainly to help European countries, since, according to him, the war in Ukraine does not have a significant impact on the United States.
“We are not really “We lose. They lose. It doesn’t affect us much because we are separated by an ocean. I’m doing this as a service to Europe. For life,” the US president added.
