Trump extended the ban on accepting ships from the Russian Federation in US ports for a year

US President Donald Trump has extended for a year the ban on the entry of ships flying the Russian flag or having other ties to Russia to US ports. The relevant decree placed in the US Federal Register.

“The policies and actions of the Government of the Russian Federation continue to constitute a national emergency due to the violation or threat of violation of the international relations of the United States, and therefore I am extending for one year the state of emergency with respect to the Russian Federation and the emergency powers set forth in Proclamation 10371 relating to the regulation of the berthing and movement of Russian-related vessels in the ports of the United States.” – says Trump’s decree.

The document emphasizes that the state of emergency in relation to the Russian Federation was introduced on April 21, 2022 during the term of office of former US President Joe Biden. The decree also emphasizes that the policies and actions of the Russian authorities remain a threat to US national security.

We will remind you that on April 21, 2022, then-President Joe Biden announced a ban on entry into American ports for Russian vessels:

“This means that no Russian-flagged vessel or vessel owned by Russia or operated by someone connected to Russia will be able to enter a US port, approach our shores.”

In the future, this ban was repeatedly extended, in particular in 2024.
