Trump imposes 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports for all countries

US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports, with no exceptions for countries. About this informs Bloomberg.

The new tariffs cover all steel and aluminum imports, regardless of country of origin, and are among the most extensive trade restrictions imposed by the Trump administration.

“The tariffs, which also apply to finished metal products, are aimed at preventing the circumvention of existing restrictions, which administration officials say countries such as Russia and China are trying to do,” Trump said.

He explained that these measures will contribute to the growth of domestic production and the creation of new jobs in the United States, and also warned of a possible further increase in metal tariffs.

“In fact, we’re imposing a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports without exception, which will encourage the opening of a large number of businesses in the United States.” – emphasized Trump during the signing of the decree in the Oval Office.

According to him, the new tariffs will enter into force on March 4. Despite the general tough approach, Trump hinted at a possible exception for Australia, linking it to the import of American aircraft to that country.
