Two police officers were reported on suspicion of beating a man near the Trade Center in Kyiv

Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, two police officers were notified on suspicion of abuse of authority. Law enforcement officers took a conscripted man to the RTCK and SP building in a minibus, after which they punched and kicked him numerous times.

The suspects’ actions were qualified under Part 2 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of authority or official authority. This means the intentional commission by law enforcement officers of actions that clearly go beyond the rights or powers granted to them, are accompanied by violence and humiliate the personal dignity of the victim, but do not contain signs of torture.

The investigation established that on October 17, 2025, the police officers inflicted at least 10-15 blows with their hands and feet on the head and body of a man who was lying on the threshold of a minibus and did not offer any resistance. As a result, the victim received bodily injuries, the severity of which will be determined by an examination.

The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with an additional penalty of deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.

The pre-trial investigation in this case is being conducted by investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in the city of Kyiv under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
