Two Russian fighter jets flew at low altitude over the Polish oil platform in the Baltic Sea
The Polish border service reported that two Russian fighter jets flew at low altitude over a drilling platform in the Baltic Sea, violating its security zone.
“Two fighters of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation made a low flight in the area of the Petrobaltic production platform. The services responsible for the security of Poland constantly monitor the situation within the critical maritime infrastructure, also outside the territorial waters of the Republic of Poland”, Polish border guards noted.
Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Horyszewski from the Operational Command of the Armed Forces explained that the Russian plane entered the no-fly zone established within a radius of 500 meters from the drilling platform. It is located approximately 70 kilometers north of Yastarni.
“The security zone of the platform was violated. The Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and other services were informed about this, the department added.
The event took place on the same day when three Russian MIG-31 fighter jets entered Estonian airspace over the Gulf of Finland without permission and stayed there for 12 minutes. NATO said that the planes were intercepted.
