Lithium deposit in Kirovohrad region may become the first joint project with the US: Svyrydenko
The “Dobra” lithium deposit, located in the Kirovohrad region, can become the first pilot project within the framework of the implementation of the American-Ukrainian reconstruction fund. About this reported Yuliya Svyridenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, following the results of the meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission, which organizes the conclusion and implementation of agreements on the distribution of products (UPA).
“We have investor interest in several deposits. One of them is the Dobra lithium deposit in the Kirovohrad region. The working group will process an application for its development. If all the requirements of the law are met, at the next meeting we will launch the tender announcement procedure for all interested companies. In the era of electrification and the Green transition, such projects can reduce risks for our strategic partners and integrate Ukraine into global supply chains.” – noted Svyridenko.
This field can potentially be included in the mandate of the American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Fund, and its development is considered as an opportunity to start joint investment. In the context of the global “green transition” and growing demand for battery technology, lithium mining projects, according to Svyridenko, are very attractive to our strategic partners.
Such initiatives also correspond to the goals of the Ukraine Facility program, in particular in terms of effective management of critical resources. In the second quarter of this year, a corresponding indicator is provided in the section of the Ukrplan that concerns the management of critical materials. We are currently at the stage of its implementation.
