Ukraine and the UN will appeal to donor countries for additional funding due to the destruction of energy infrastructure
Ukraine and the United Nations plan to appeal to donor countries for additional funding to provide humanitarian assistance in response to the crisis caused by Russian shelling of civilian infrastructure. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk during the presentation of the UN Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan for 2026. She noted that the UN plan was developed without fully taking into account the scale of the winter crisis caused by the lack of electricity, heat and water supply for millions of Ukrainians. Together with Mr. Mathias, we agreed to appeal to donors for additional funding in response to the new challenges of the humanitarian war, which the Russian Federation is waging against us, Vereshchuk said, referring to the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, Matthias Schmale.
Among the donors supporting the activities of the UN mission in Ukraine are Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Norway, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, the European Union, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, South Korea, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
