Ukraine calls for deployment of missile system to force Russia to ‘real peace talks’

Ukraine has put forward a proposal to deploy a comprehensive non-nuclear strategic deterrence package on its territory, which would be aimed at forcing Russia to participate in “real peace talks”. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi during his speech at the meeting of the European Council.

“We propose to deploy a package that will either force Russia to engage in real peace negotiations, or will enable the destruction of their military facilities. Now we are talking about peace through threats. This is about the corresponding package of missiles.”, — noted Zelensky.

The President also said that the details of this initiative were revealed to Ukraine’s partners, including the USA, Great Britain, France, Italy and Germany. Ukraine is ready to share details with all leaders who wish to support this initiative.

Zelensky emphasized that this deterrence package will be used only if Russia does not stop military operations. He also emphasized the need to continue to put pressure on Russia, to maintain positions at the front and to transfer hostilities to Russian territory so that the Russian population realizes the devastating consequences of Putin’s actions.

The President added that it is important to supply the Ukrainian troops with air defense equipment and provide them without restrictions. During his speech in the Ukrainian parliament, he also talked about working together with partners to shoot down Russian drones and missiles, investing in Ukrainian defense production and providing Ukraine with long-range capabilities and real-time satellite data.

In addition, Zelensky noted that the defense part of the “victory plan” includes a secret application to which only partners with the appropriate military assistance potential have access.
